Brazil tinplate demand growing

Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN), Brazil's only tinplate producer, expects to see increased demand in 2013, according to Steel Business Briefing. Luis Fernando Barbosa Martinez, the company's commercial director said that "increasingly, the Brazilian consumer has been requiring better quality products and they end up buying more cans. This results in the growth of tinplate in the packaging mix of our customers and we saw that growing in the last few months."

Malaysia initiates probe on tinplate dumping

The Malaysian Government has decided to initiate a preliminary investigation on imports of electrolytic tinplate from the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Korea.
