Tata expanding tinplate capacity

Tinplate Co of India Ltd (TCIL), a Tata group subsidiary, plans to double its exports of tinplate to other Asian markets from next year, its managing director Bushen Raina has told Metal Bulletin.

Sale of Weirton tinplate business agreed

Arcelor Mittal, the world's largest steel company, has agreed to sell its tinplate plant and other steel finishing operations in Weirton, West Virginia, to Esmark Inc. to satisfy US antitrust concerns. The MOU is expected to lead to a definitive purchase agreement by 2 February, subject to approval by the US Department of Justice.
