Malaysia makes final decision on tinplate anti-dumping duties

The Malaysian Government, after completing an investigation on producers and importers in Malaysia as well as producers/exporters in China and Republic of Korea, has announced that the Royal Malaysian Customs will enforce the collection of anti-dumping duties on imports of tinplate for five years from 16 November 2013 as follows.

Controversy over Malaysian tinplate dumping investigation

Malaysian can manufacturers have petitioned the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) to reject an anti-dumping petition made by Malaysia's sole tinplate producer Perusahaan Sadur Timah Malaysia (Perstima). Miti is due to report next week on the results of an investigation which could result in in duties on imported tinplate from China and South Korea being raised from the current level of 5%.
