Baseresult increases investment in South Crofty mine

Baseresult Holdings Limited has begun purchasing more underground mining equipment as it accelerates plans to re-open the South Crofty mine in Cornwall.

The BBC’s website reports that the company aims to have the mine, closed in 1998, back in full-scale production within two to four years.

However the plan is opposed by the South West Regional Development Agency, which has a competing plan for a large leisure, industrial and housing development adjacent to the mine site.

Stonehenge to start tin production

Stonehenge Metals has reported that it is planning to commence small-scale tin concentrate production from stockpiled ore at its projects in western Tasmania.

The company, listed on the Australian Stock Exchange last December, is evaluating restarting tin production at the Granville East open pit mine, near Metals X’s Renison mine.

Stonehenge is aiming to generate early cashflow by treating stockpiled ore at a mill on the site which it aims to re-condition by August. Initially 6,000 – 7,000 tonnes of ore...
