PMC completes acquisition of Arkema Beijing

Thursday, 09 January 2014

PMC Group announced on 3 January that it had completed its purchase of Arkema Beijing Chemical Co., Ltd. This completes the final portion of PMC's previously announced acquisition of Arkema's worldwide tin stabiliser, organometallic, and organophosphine specialty chemical business. The new name of Arkema Beijing Chemical Co., Ltd. is PMC Beijing Chemicals Co., Ltd. The Chinese tin stabilisers market is growing strongly as a result of economic growth and substitution of tin for lead in the stabilisers business.

The acquired business will operate as part of PMC's PMC Organometallix business unit, which includes two ex-Arkema units in the USA acquired in 2012 and a toll manufacturing arrangement to use part of Arkema's Vlissingen plant in the Netherlands. In 2013 PMC increased its share of the tin stabilisers business by acquiring Dow Chemical's global methyl tin stabilisers and solid lubricants businesses based in Cincinnati, Ohio. PMC is now the global leader in the production of organotin PVC stabilisers, which account for some 10% of global tin usage.
