ITRI Tin forum in Indonesia discusses progress in trade and Sustainability of Tin production

The Indonesia Tin Forum hosted by ITRI in Pankalpinang, Bangka on the 11th December 2013 attracted more than a hundred local and international delegates to hear about and discuss issues currently facing the Indonesian tin sector such as changing export regulations, and international market concern over environmental and social sustainability. Attendees included industry, authorities and civil society in this unique event which provided an opportunity for a wide range of interests to be considered and discussed.

Apple investigates potential use of illegally mined tin from Indonesia

In a note added to its Supplier Responsibility page Apple announced that the company is investigating whether or not its suppliers are sourcing tin from illegal mines; "Bangka Island, Indonesia, is one of the world's principal tin-producing regions. Recent concerns about the illegal mining of tin from this region prompted Apple to lead a fact-finding visit to learn more.
