The restriction process is designed as a ‘safety net’ to manage risks, on a Community-wide basis, that are otherwise not addressed by REACH. The restrictions could take a number of forms, from a total ban of the substance to not being allowed to supply it to the general public. Restrictions can be applied to any substance, including those that do not require registration; they can also apply to all uses, or, to specific uses. This part of REACH takes over the provisions of the Marketing & Use Directive.
Further information on Restriction can be found on the ECHA website.
