Pitinga-Pirapora tin output reaches fresh highs

Post By: Tom Mulqueen on Friday, 18 August 2017

Refined tin production from Minsur's subsidiary in Brazil, Taboca, rose 28% year-on-year to 1,934 tonnes in Q2 according to the company's Q2 financial report, while production from the Pitinga Mine declined 3% to 1,622 tonnes.

The increase in refined tin production was explained by an 18% higher volume of concentrate to the smelter and a 37% rise production of tin from slags. Output in the first half of 2017 totalled 3,356 tonnes, up 39% from the same period of...

Pitinga production strong in Q3

Post By: Tom Mulqueen on Tuesday, 15 November 2016

Minsur's Q3 consolidated results, released yesterday, reveal that refined tin output from its Brazilian subsidiary, Taboca, rose 16% YoY to 1,742 tonnes during the quarter. The increase was largely due to completion of hydroelectric plant repairs at the Pitinga mine and brings Minsur's total refined tin production in Brazil and Peru to 6,924 tonnes for Q3.

The impact of repairs to the hydroelectric plant was most notable in the year-on-year increase in tin-in-concentrate production from the Pitinga mine In Q3, which...

2015 tin production rises at Minsur’s Brazilian operations

Post By: Tom Mulqueen on Tuesday, 08 March 2016

Minsur's consolidated results for Q4 reveal that total tin-in-concentrate production from the Pitinga mine in Brazil, operated by its subsidiary, Taboca, rose 2% to 5,744 tonnes in 2015. In addition, refined tin production from Taboca's Pirapora smelter rose 10% to 5,525 tonnes.

A higher tin recovery of 53% resulted in the rise in Pitinga mine production, despite a 4% lower volume of ore treated and a negligible 2% fall in average tin grade. The reduced volume of ore treated...

Mixed production results from Minsur’s Brazilian operations

Post By: Tom Mulqueen on Wednesday, 18 November 2015

While production at the Pitinga mine fell in Q3, tin output at the company’s Pirapora smelter rose by 7%.

Minsur released its consolidated Q3 results on Monday revealing that its Brazilian subsidiary, Taboca, saw a 21% year-on-year fall in Q3 tin production from its Pitinga mine to 1,173 tonnes in 2015. This was primarily due to restricted energy supply and production halts relating to the discovery of water leaks at the dam feeding the mine's hydroelectric plant. Production in...

Pitinga production capacity to fall 33%

Post By: Tom Mulqueen on Thursday, 10 September 2015

Peru based tin miner Minsur has announced a 33% reduction in tin production capacity from its Pitinga tin mine in Brazil for nine to twelve months as it carries out emergency repairs.

The company was forced to halt production in August following discovery of water leaks at the hydroelectric plant which powers the mine. Production was resumed shortly after at a reduced rate as power generation at the plant continued at half capacity. This recent statement was released following...

There was a significant increase in tin production from the Pitinga mine, run by Minsur's Brazilian subsidy, Taboca. This amounted to 1,400 tonnes of tin in Q4, up...

Minsur reports drop in third quarter production

Post By: Tom Mulqueen on Wednesday, 19 November 2014

Minsur has reported that combined tin production at its operations in Peru and Brazil in 3Q14 has decreased 1% to 6,852 tonnes compared to 3Q13, primarily due to lower grades at the San Rafael tin mine in Puno, Peru.

The combined production of tin since the start of the year was 5% higher than 2013, at 21,644 tonnes, due to greater tin sales resulting from optimisation of tin stocks. However, it is anticipated that the total tin produced in 2014 will...
