Description

The Congo Artisanal Mining Cooperative (CDMC) is a company that supervises artisanal miners in the mining of the 3Ts (Tin- Tantalum-tungsten & gold) in Katanga / DRC.

Of the four districts of Katanga, We operate in three of them namely in: Haut Lomami, Lualaba and Tanganyika wherein we supervise a staff of ± 13,000 artisanal miners and produce ± 82% Tin and Tantalum ores.

Pioneer in the mining of the 3Ts, our reputation is built on our organizational structure, our compliance with provincial, national as well as international laws related to the mining of the 3Ts.

CDMC is complying with the OECD guidelines and the iTSCi process of ITRI. As a young cooperative, we have already gained much experience. As a member of the Congolese chamber of trade, we are the first cooperative in the first ore that produced tagged in the iTSCi project of ITRI.

Strategy

1. Increased production in the 3Ts by an efficient management of the miners who have been clearly identified with the assistance of SAESSCAM which is a State service operating in all sites and quarries that have been identified and authorized by the Provincial and the National Government.

Supply of working tools to miners: mining bars, spades, pickaxes, and other masses, we protect them by providing suitable clothing: boots, helmets, suits, gloves etc… We secure them in working places by creating safer working conditions and by avoiding potential land subsidence. We also provide empty bags.

2. Access to primary medical care as well as micro-financing. A large ambitious project to help the miners increase their financial capacity through the creation of other related activities such as carpentry, masonry, shoe making, crafts etc....

3. Acquisition of exploration permits (E.P) and artisanal mining areas (A.M.A) on which investigations are made for the semi-mechanization that will provide easy access to deposits by miners.
