Biodiesel development is a highly topical area where tin could play an important role. Tin catalysts have recently demonstrated an ability to form biodiesel from soya and from milk residues, for example.

Much of this work is embryonic and ITRI would like to bring together researchers working in the field to exchange information and find research synergies.

ITRI would consider offering student placements in the ITRI laboratories in the UK to study the preparation and properties of biodiesel catalysts.
